“From time to time, to remind ourselves to relax and be peaceful, we may wish to set aside some time for a retreat, a day of mindfulness, when we can walk slowly, smile, drink tea with a friend, enjoy being together as if we are the happiest people on Earth.” –Thich Nhat Hanh
Hello Beautiful Friends,
I am so excited to announce that we will be hosting our fourth annual retreat at Callaway Gardens. With the help of my dear friend Doug Dailey, we have secured 8 cottages and a beautiful space to practice yoga. Shannon Andrews Skipper will be co-leading the specialty yoga workshops. The past three years we have had so much fun being creative, zip lining across the lake, doing yoga on the lawn, sharing our yoga practice, exploring the gardens, and sharing a meal together, that we wanted to do it again! Each year we explore a theme. This year’s theme has not been announced yet.
Callaway Gardens is a special place because the nature of the grounds invites you to slow down and let go of the sense of urgency that often plagues our daily lives. During this retreat participants will have plenty of time to explore the gardens alone or with friends. There are bike, boat, and golf rentals, beautiful flowers, and trails to hike. The Butterfly Garden, Discovery Center, and Bird shows are also fun to explore and visit. For more info check out the website at www.callawaygardens.com
The set up to incorporate yoga into this experience couldn’t be better! Each morning of the retreat weekend, participants can wake up and walk from the Southern Pine Cottages where we will be staying to the Marriott Lodge & Spa for a coffee or tea and then join the group for a Specialty Yoga Class led by Jasper Elliott Wolfe, LMT, NMT, RYT. Afterward, enjoy the breakfast buffet or head out to explore the Gardens in your own way! There is also a beautiful pool and hot tubs if you just feel like relaxing! There will also be a Friday and Saturday evening offering.
Jasper Elliott Wolfe is the co-founder and yoga teacher at the Conscious Body Healing Arts Center. She is the creator of Slow & Sacred Flow, which emphasizes the importance of practicing authentically while focusing on gratitude and is a practice that is appropriate for all experience levels. For more information on Jasper’s bio, education, and class descriptions explore the People and Class Description page of this website.
Shannon Andrew Skipper began her yoga practice in 2002 and became a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher in 2007 after completing her training at the Tallapoosa Center for Inner Arts in Carrollton, GA. There she studied an eclectic style of Yoga and Tai Chi with Karen Sifton and Roger Hornsby. She’s also a certified Laughter Yoga leader, founder, and co-host of Birmingham Kirtan Satsang and host of SOL Dance Experience.
